Expedition Updates - Camping, Kayaking, Guarantees

Famous for its enormous icebergs, towering glaciers and shimmering summer light, Antarctica offers some of the planet's most awe inspiring landscapes. The North Atlantic and Arctic evoke images of sparse snow covered lands, but when summer comes it bursts with colour and life.

Yeah, I so wanted to camp on our Antarctic trip but our group was weathered out.

Camping on Antarctica is the one thing I'm looking forward to the most... Fingers and toes crossed, I hope nothing goes wrong on my trip in Dec '11.

Thanks for all the information, guys! This just gets me more worked up! :D

Hi,
I'm booked in to camp on my upcoming Antarctic trip on MS Expedition. I've had a look at the "excursions" p[age but the links to the 2 pdf's for camping arent working. Just wanted to know if sleeping bags etc are provided or whether I need to bring my own... also if there is anything special I need for the camping excursion

Thanks in advance. So excited!

They provide sleeping bags and tents. You provide your own foul weather clothing and safety consciousness.

Zuleika,

I saw your post. FYI, it looks like GAdventures may be outfitting some of the cabins for 4 people in order to attract the backpackers that congregate in Ushuaia. I don't know when that will happen, but it will certainly lower the price. Also, we saw some really cheap ($3500) last minute Antarctica deals posted at a travel agent in Ushuaia, so if you're really adventures, you can try to score something at the last minute.

They already have! :) I traveled in December in a quad cabin and it was actually really comfy. You spend hardly any time in the cabin other than when you're sleeping so it was definitely worth the small price cut for me.
