Requirements for subject in departure lounges
Hi,
I just created a new topic in the September's departure lounge, and I noticed that there is a conflict between the limitations of the forum when posting a new topic and the requirements set for when posting topics in the departure lounge. In my situation I was supposed to create a topic with the following subject:
DTKS100911: Kilimanjaro and Serengeti Adventure - September 11, 2010
The problem is that due to the length limitation of the subject line, I would only be able to write the following:
DTKS100911: Kilimanjaro and Serengeti Adventure - September
No matter how I shortened "- September 11, 2010" i couldn't get it to fit (assuming that I would shorten it to something still understandable). I ended up skipping the date.
Also, I am wondering why we have to enter the departure date twice; both in the beginning together with the code and then afterwards in plain text. Wouldn't it be enough just having the first date entered?

Re: Requirements for subject in departure lounges
Have you tried
DTKS100911: Kilimanjaro and Serengeti Adventure - Sept-11-2010?
I do agree though, seems silly to have to enter the date twice. It would make better sense to do it something along the line of trip name first, then the code and date. Most people tend to remember the name rather than the code.

I've had to use some creativity for the longer tour names...I just made a quick edit to add the date at the end. It makes it clearer/easier for others to find you.
The trip code can be helpful for some trips that have similar names....and the date at the front helps us moderators to archive/clear out The Departure Lounge after the tour has departed.
Have a great trip!

Kilimanjoro and Serengeti Adventure - DTKS - September 11,2010
Should be DTKS100911 Kilimanjaro and Serengeti - Sept 11 10
Having the full trip code up front allows anyone searching to type in their trip code and find it easy, and not get confuse with other same trips but leaving on different dates of that month.
And I second what Ballu says. When we are slaving behind the scenes ,spending hours and hours, clearing out the past month, it's saves a lot of time to have the full date up in a standard format at the end.
