Re: Upgrade to The Water Hole Forum
So, although I was logged in, the page I was looking at gave the impression that I wasn't.![]()
Hi Desiree. I know what you mean; I experienced the same thing. The good news is that now when I go to gapadventures.com, I'm still logged in, which is something all the moderators have been asking for.
I imagine that the other glitches we're experiencing will be taken care of shortly. Hang in there!

Hey what happened to the Planner? I had a few trips saved in there. I liked the planner because when I found an interesting trip, I could easily save it to my planner. I found it a very useful tool.
On a good note, I did notice that finally I don't have to keep logging in whenever I visit the site. Thumbs up!

Well.. no upgrade is ever perfect.
Earlier I said there is not signature option in the user control panel. Actually, there is, but I didn't see it because the options were garbled up. (See below) Again, I'm using Firefox 3.5 w/ Mac OS 10.5.

Re: Upgrade to The Water Hole Forum
Hi there,
I'm not so sure that I like the visual change. I really enjoyed the photos and images that the old Wateringhole had. It seemed to match the theme.
The navigation to return to the root menus at the bottom of the page is not really convenient.
In writing a long post, I was not able to page down or copy and paste beyond the displayed page.
I do not see any way to edit a post either.
In editing my profile, I was able to upload a new photo (I'm not sure why my old profile photo was not transferred) but I was not able to change or add things like nationality or province. It would not save it.
I too do not get anything in the recent posts on the home page of the Share and Connect.
Good luck in the upgrade.

It's the journey, not the destination.

I know what you mean, mojowp.
A few things got knocked out of whack during the change but we should have our avatars and all the other functionality we used to have back again soon.
Hang in there!

And as I view the posts on this page at this point in time, nobody's avatar is up. Sure will be nice when the server issues are fixed.

Re: Upgrade to The Water Hole Forum
One step forwards - twenty steps backward.
Wateringhole now wont keep me logged on anymore and I am even having trouble trying to log on - I just get a square with a cross in it for logon - often wont let me enter my logon/password and go any further.
Also - THE MOST ANNOYING problem is back - where by your post just doesnt get posted when you hit submit.
I just spent a good while answering a poster all for nothing - I thought we had got rid of this glitch. When I clicked submit - it just disappeared, when i hit the back button - just empty. You need to SACK your IT people and GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!
I cant be bothered anymore - which is a shame as I did really like this site, but its just too onerous and too problem riddled.
I'd recommend http://boards.bootsnall.com/ for a travel forum that works really well with no long running glitches.
Bye all, its been really good, but now Im just too frustrated and so signing off indefinitely.
Zuleika
PS - thats if I can get this to submit
pps - second time of trying.....

Re: Upgrade to The Water Hole Forum
I also noticed a few problems are back. When submitting posts, a few have disappeared on me. Time to go back to typing up the post in MS Word and copy and paste.
As well, if you go to the Watering Hole directly, you cannot login if you are not logged in automatically. If you click the Login button, a big empty square appears but you can't do anything. To log in you have to go to the GAP homepage and login from there. Then go to the Watering Hole.
I think there was something else but I can't remember...must be the effects of the flu I had all week.

Zuleika,
You will be missed. I always enjoyed your comments. And, it is indeed frustrating that the "Improvements" to the site have proven to be anything but.

Can't pretend there are no problems.
But what I can say, is that the biggest problem would be to see our most helpful members leaving.
So Zuleika, stick around please!
