What kind of camera lense for Delhi to Kathmandu

What kind of camera lense for Delhi to Kathmandu

Postby kaamelott » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:42 pm

I have a Canon EOS 350D with the regular 35/50mm lense and i was wondering if It would be better with another lense. I have no real knowledge about photography but when I was in Africa I used a 75/300mm and it was okay. For the kind of landscape I will encounter during the trip, what would you recommend?

Any and all help is welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Wide angle lens is prob best for landscape. I love my 10-22mm lens on my 7D when I go on trips.

If you only want to carry one lens, a 40 to 200mm is quite versatile.

Different ppl have different preference I guess, but I don't find myself in need of zoom lens on trips. OP's camera has 1.6x crop factor, and so a 200mm lens would be like a 300mm lens. That's too much, IMO. When I go on trip, I always carry my 10-22mm and my 24-105mm, and they work great for me. (My camera also has 1.6x crop)

hi kaamelott :)

I took my Nikon d40x with the 18-55 lens. I also took my point and shoot pocket camera. and I managed quiet ok with both of these because we were constantly on the move . You could take a wide angle wit you for landscape . be aware you will be photographed everywhere you go. especially by groups of men . at first a bit unnerving but it seems to be the norm there. Most people are happy to pose for you especially the kids. but also expect to pay for photos of snake charmers etc. also you will be expected to pay a fee for camera when going into mosques.

enjoy trip its a great trip. lots of colour. :)
