Vietnam - Dollar or Dong??

Vietnam - Dollar or Dong??

Postby laurengw23 » Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:29 pm

Hi,

I will be travelling to Vietnam in a few weeks and just wondered what the best currency would be for me to take. Some say US dollars other websites say the Vietnamese dong is preferred?

Thanks :)

i was actually told it was illegal for them to accept US dollars, and most people only accepted dong. however, i did find a several shop keepers were willing to accept US dollars back in 2009.
you can always change US dollars along the way also.

I was just there. You can use dong or dollars but it is just as easy to get dong and use them. Hotels will accept $s. Most bars and restuarants will quote proces in Dong
