Camera Help?

Postby nathanc070 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 5:30 am

Hey Guys, im going to Thailand, Cambodia, laos and Vietnam at the start of july and I still don't have a camera yet. Just the camera on my Iphone.5 which I don't want to rely on.

I have a gopro camera which im going to take for some underwater footage when were snorkelling etc but im not confident taking normal pictures with it.

Any ideas about what sort of camera to take? I don't really want to spend a fortune on it but I do want some high quality photo's that aren't going to be blurry and that can catch the vibrant colours of where were going! Wont really be taking videos mainly just photo's if that's makes a difference!

Any help is appreciated! :)

Cheers Nathan

Sounds like a compact camera would be best for you

Best thing would be to go to your local camera shop and ask a salesperson to help you find exactly what you want. That way you can handle the camera and make sure you like it and are able to use it easily before you purchase it.

I love my Panasonic Lumix point and shoot digital camera. It's small and compact so I can put it in my bag and easily pull it out and start snapping pictures. Even though it's small, it has excellent zoom. I've used it on trips to Africa and Alaska, and gotten lots of compliments on my photos.

I have a Panasonic Lumix camera with the extra zoom. I love it and it takes great pictures. It is a few years old and going strong. It has 10x zoom, but the new ones are a bit bigger. I was happy getting one with the extra zoom and I ended up needing that extra reach more than I expected.

what kind of budget do you have?
the canon G series is great, the G15 is the latest camera in this line, they
are reasonable and you can grow with the camera as well.

I too have a panasonic Lumix camera, the LX3, several years old but still
excellent neverthessless.
