Here's a top topic!

Anyone got a favourite top or other item of clothing they always take on tour?

While packing for a 7 week trip through Ethiopia and Scotland, I was packing clothes for the trip and pulled out a sweat top and started folding it up to pop in my bag, and suddenly realised I'd done that so many times before with that particular top.So I went back through our travel photos and sure enough there I am wearing that same top on trips as far back as 2002! And it still looks good enough not to want to throw it out or leave behind or donate to some poor local we meet.
Almost 10 years old and I still wear it!
Just a plain cheap cotton sweat shirt bought in a market in Ho Chi Mihn City for $6.
And yet it's always been there for me upon opening my bags in another city, in a new country , another year later. So I'm going through all our photos and I think I'll do a photo essay on my travelling top sussing out weird and wonderful new and exciting places.
I always thought the Gucci label marked it as a knock off product, but there's many a top fashion house getting stuff made in Asian countries to their standards, and judging from the everlasting quality of the fabric, I now like to think it's the real product.
My $6 Gucci top, with the little shoulder pockets (just big enough for those unmentionable emergency protection packets that a guy like me will never need) will be travelling to a lot more places. Will be interesting to see how many more places my Gucci top can add to it's travel map!
Anyone else got an indestructable and well loved item of gear ?

I think you should have included a picture of the top.

For me it's my Mt. Hardware shirts, tough enough for anywhere in the world.

yes, i've got this little green top from Next in the UK, beleive it or not. Its got pictures of kiwis on it and its been with me virtually everywhere. Its just easy to pack, got short sleeves on it and the right length thats all. Think it cos me about £15.

Interesting topic Jim.
Can't say I have any indestructibles....I tend to pack clothes that I expect to dispose of along the way, or don't mind if they fall apart! From shoes to jackets, I always come back with much fewer clothing items.
