Here are my photos from the Ethiopia Explorer tour where I just got back from, and a side tour to Harar (city in eastern Ethiopia) that a few of us did on our own. People were friendly, the local markets and landscapes were amazing, it was a great place to visit and I am glad I went.

Hey real neat photos!!Thanks Paulo.My wife has gone gaga over these.We're going there next year.But need to fit it in, in Aug which is real wet season.
So how did you find the weather?

We started the tour (sept 12th) right when the rainy season ended, so it only rained on us for about an hour during the whole three weeks. I checked the weather before I got there and Addis had rained almost everyday the prior weeks. Also, except the Semien mountains, I rarely needed a jacket at night, and the days were also pleasant for the most part.

Ethiopia has been on my list of must-see's. After your photos, I think it's in the works for next year. In your opinion, September or October is a good time to go, weather-wise?

From what I hear from the locals the rain season pretty much stops after their New Years - which is September 11. This also means Sept/Oct is usually the greenest time to go, and you will see lots of wildflower in the Semien mountains. If you go to the south you may still get rain through October. I would guess either month will be good weather wise.

Hello Jackbency,

The specialty in Ethiopia to me was the people, but it has a lot to offer. Ethiopia is not known for it's wildlife , but it does have some. It's probably the most historical places in sub Saharan Africa, and it is one of the few countries in Africa that have not been colonized - although Italians were there for about six years during WWII and they left some influences with food and architecture. Lots of tribes throughout the country any many of them get together often at many of the unique markets. I guess it depends what you are into. Cost if you go with GAP than you just add the plane ticket and what GAP charges and add somewhere around 500 US dollars for food, tips, ect per person for the two weeks and more if you stay longer. It's a big country and some of the roads are bad so getting around is your biggest expense. Food is about 2 to 5 US dollars be meal.
