Spending Money-East Coast Encompassed - AUS!

Postby bambi » Wed Mar 27, 2013 5:23 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering how much spending money, approximately, I might need to take for the East Coast Encompassed trip?

I'll be away in total for 3 1/2 weeks, as I am spending a couple of days either side in Sydney (accomodation sorted) and Cairns (staying with a friend), and also a day in Melbourne before I fly home. I know there is quite a lot of meals included in the tour itself.

I am on a fairly tight budget but prepared to splash out on a few extra experiences.

Any advice appreciated :)

Thanks.

Budget $20-$30 for each meal, aim for the $30 to be on the safe side.

Beers can be between $4-$8 depending on what you order, what size and if you're in a restaurant or a bar. Wine is about $7-$12 (again depending on the same) and spirits $5-$10. Cocktails are anywhere between $10-$20.

A takeaway coffee is about $4-$5.

Extra "experiences" can be anywhere from $50-$300.

Anything in Cairns is going to be definitely over the $100 price tag (reef, skyrail/train, rafting etc).

Sydney there is plenty free or cheap to do eg walk over the Harbour bridge, ferry to Manly, walking around the city.

For the extra stuff, check out Trip Advisor "things to do" or "attractions" for each city and see what activities they recommend and the pricing.
