Hi when are you going in April as I'm doing same end of April.
My good mate did it a few months back and he said out of 30 only 14 made it due to altitude sickness. But it may not affect you as bad, he said as a walk its not too difficult but the lack of oxygen makes it very hard.

inch by inch it's cinch
yard by yard it's hard
repeat it all the way, especially before going up a pass. I'm 67. I've successfully done EBC in 2011, Mera Peak (6400+meter) climb in 2012, and i'll attemp Annapurna (7500+meter) climb in Sep 2013. Just take it easy. Don't show off and don't let the alt sickness scare you.

I just completed Mt. Kilimanjaro (Machame Route). Our group took Diomox. It will help with altitude sickness (split the tablet in half and take a half in the morning and before bed).
Take the pills a day or two prior to starting the hike. You should be fine.

Thanks for info! I am a lil worried that altitude sickness may stop me from completing the trek & was dubious about taking the pills. Can i get Diamox whilst in Nepal? I cant seem to find them in my local pharmacy. Thanks again for the advice

The trek up to base camp was difficult for me, just tried to keep breathing and remind myself that it wasn't a race. It's very doable if you just take your time, it's a real accomplishment. You can purchase oxygen canisters and take a hit now and then if needed
There is the Everest Post office too that you should check out, you can mail letters from there and get a stamp in your passport.
