I stayed at the five stones hostel in Singapore and really liked it. There was a common area where you could meet lots of other travelers. it was clean and central to lots of things.

I stayed in Beary Good hostel in Singapore - great location in Chinatown, just round the corner from the metro, nice lively area. Not the most social of hostels as was quite small but was clean, safe and modern (and, as you can guess by the name, a tad girly). Free internet and breakfast, would stay there again.
