Japanese Encephalitis

Postby kjc1000 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 12:37 pm

I am travelling around Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand for 2 months (June - August) and I can't work out if I need the Japanese Encephalitis vaccine. I asked the travel nurse and she said the advice was that it was to 'be considered' if I was going to rural areas for extended periods of time. I don't know yet what we will be doing in these areas - I haven't organised any trips and I am not doing a set route.

It also seems quite hard to get hold of? My local pharmacies seemed to suggest it was very expensive and would take a while to get hold of?

Take a look at CDC travel advisory page:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/jencephalitis/qa.htm
Hope this helps
