Light compressable sleeping bags

Postby johnnyg » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:35 pm

Hello,

I am doing the Botswana and Falls Overland tour in Feb, 2013. I am suppose to bring my own sleeping bag and I am unable to rent one when I arrive. Does anyone have any suggestions for the brand or type of sleeping bag I should buy. I want one that is no more than 2lbs(800 grams) and can be compressed really small. I have a sleeping bag liner which is super light, will this be sufficient?

The liner may well be enough in Botswana and Zambia at that time of year but I'm not sure about the Namibian portion of your trip.

Something like the REI Travel Sack or Kelty Light Year XP should do: http://www.rei.com/product/731835/rei-travel-sack-55-sleeping-bag or http://www.rei.com/product/832246/kelty-light-year-xp-40-sleeping-bag-regular-right-2011-overstock
