For this trip the gorilla track portion on
trekking on
Day 3-6 Gorilla Tracking/Lake Bunyonyi (4B,4L,4D)

So is this total of hiking and camping for full duration? or is it just a one day short hike and rest of time in safari vehicle?
As i am considering doing this trip right after tanzania encompassed.
as well anyone who has done this trip, what did u think of this one? was the safari, trek, worth the time, did u get to see a lot of the animals and scenery?
Thanks

Hi JR,
you stay at Lake Bunyoni for 4 days because they spilt you into groups of 8 people to go treking to the Gorillas, we left early in the morning & travelled in a small van to the start point of the trek.
The rest of the time is at the Lake, there are day treks out of the camp or you can hire a canoe & explore the lake yourself or go swimming, but it is a pretty nice camp just to sit & chill, for a couple of days. A few of our group organized a day trip to Rwanda, our CEO arranged the transport, but they had to sign a disclaimer as this is not part of the trip.

Hi Mark,
Can I pick your brains on this? I head off on this trip next week - what's the campsite like? We stayed at one in Ethiopia for a good few days, and it was simple but nice - it had a fridge with beer and a shower - it's all i needed! Is it a well developed site (ie. electricity), or is it just a fenced off field? For that matter - what are the majority of the campsites like?
Fingers crossed for a good gorilla sighting that's not a 7 hour hike away!
Cheers!

Hi Aaron,
the campsite at Lake Bunyoni is good, you are camping right on the edge of the lake, plenty of time for a swim or hire a canoe, there is a bar, restaurant & hot showers, as with the rest of Africa there is electricity but there is power outs, there are plenty of power points at the bar to charge cameras & phones. The camp at Queen Elizabeth also has a bar, here also we had a couple of powerouts, the showers are clean but the hot water ran out after a couple of you shower. Lake Mburo is very basic, there is a bar but the showers & toilets are very basic, you share the camp ground with warthogs, monkeys & at night the hippos will come out of the lake to graze.
the gorilla trek depends on the day, we did hike for about 6 hours, not including the 1 hour with the gorillas, the other groups found them in just an hour. What ever time it takes it is worth it.
i hope this helps

Just curious how does the luggage situation with this trip work, do you bring all your luggage with you on the trip? thanks

Hi JR,
Your truck with your luggage will be based at Lake Bunyoni for the 4 days, when you travel to the gorillas you will be picked up by a small van & transported to the trek.

Fantastic - thanks Mark. Those sites sound great - probably a lot like the ones in Ethiopia. Definitely looking forward to it now... even more than before!
Cheers,
Aaron
