Vic Falls to Jo'burg Overland Optional Activity Question
I am planning on going to Africa in March with GAP and I was curious if people carry cash to cover all the optional activities for the duration of the tour or are ATMs easy to find.
Thanks

I paid with my credit card for the activities. Few people paid with cash.

| did Nairobi to Vic Falls...used the credit card for activities at Vic Falls which will likely be your biggest expense on this trip. For everything else I got money out of ATMs which were findable but not always working. It's a good idea to have a few hundred extra USD for exchanging in case you need to tide yourself over if an ATM doesn't like your card or is out of money (on top of whatever you'll need for border visas).

I have come back from Jo'burg to Nairobi and others said, use your credit card at Vic Falls. The other stuff you pay in cash to your CEO normally. I would suggest taking US dollars and changing it for each country. The main money you will need for that trip I would suggest is the optonal activities of the Kruger Game Drive and the sunset cruise at Chobe. Some did the game drive at Elephant Sands (Botswana) and enjoyed it too. Other money needed would be for drinks and snacks and any souviners.

Re: Vic Falls to Jo'burg Overland Optional Activity Question
I DID carry cash to cover all activities just in case but used my credit card to pay for most activities. ATMs were very easy to find although it was handy having cash to convert as sometimes ATMs were finicky or had long lines (especially in Zanzibar). You can lock most of your cash in the truck safe but of course any cash you bring is at your own risk regardless of where you keep it.
