What should women wear in Egypt?
Just curious if anyone has some tips for what female travellers should wear while in Egypt - I've heard a number of conflicting things. Some say anything is ok as long as it's not overly revealing, others say knees and shoulders should always be covered, and nothing too tight. Any practical tips on what to bring for clothing? Capris? Long-sleeved shirts? And also, are sandals ok that show your toes? Thanks!!

Here's a link to a past topic on this:

They still stand today. Loose, light-weight clothing and not so revealing is best and will curb the attention from the locals...well a little bit.
Happy Travels!

I've been asking this same question as I prepare for my Egypt trip. A friend on money just came back from Morocco (Muslim influence as well) and has been to Egypt before. She said to also have a scarf handy that you can throw over your 'upper body' if you are getting the 'looks' from people. She did also mention that the more covered up she was... the less harassing she got.

Visiting mosques remember to cover your knees as well as your shoulders. This applies to men as well. You'll be asked to remove your shoes too.
Outside of that sandals are definitely fine.
I don't remember any of the women getting harrassed in our group a year ago.
One very attractive blonde woman got a lot of attention due to her hair colour. But again, I don't remember it being anything to troublesome.
Have an amazing trip. You are going to love it!

If it does not bring you joy, why are you doing it?
