Kenya, Tanzania visas

Postby michaelhoy19 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 8:38 am

Hello, I just booked my 40 day trip from Cape Town to Nairobi, and am currently looking into visas. I am a Canadian and my CEO said that I shouldn't have any problems getting my visas at the boarder. I looked online and the visa applications required a number of things including passport photos and applications so I was just wondering if anyone has got their visas at the boarder and if so did they need anything or was a passport enough? Thank you for your help in this matter!

All I needed when I was there in 2009 was my passport and $50 USD.

I was in Kenya and Tanzania in September 2013. You just need your passport and pay for your visa in $USD. In my group there were people with passports from Canada, U.S., Ireland, Britain, Columbia.

Have a great trip!!

I'm from the US, and got my Tanzania visa prior. I girl on my trip whom I met on the plane, got her visa at the border (they take your photo, no need to have pics) and she was from Canada, it was $50USD.
Not sure about Kenya, but if your CEO says it's ok, I would trust them- they do this all the time!

I was also looking into going to Egypt and Jordan on this trip and saw that they require visas also, don't suppose anyone knows if you can also get those at the boarder as well?

I went to Egypt in 2010 and easily got a visa at the Cairo airport upon arrival for $15 USD. It's been a few years so you'll have to check if there are changes or price increase.

I presume that it's just as easy to obtain a visa for Kenya when you land at the airport? I've been trying to get info, but there doesn't seem to be much. Trying to obtain a visa before you go seems such an unnecessary pain, so would prefer to get one when I get there. Any advice?

I haven't heard of anyone having a problem getting a Kenyan visa at the airport upon arrival.
