First time GAPer - pack question

Postby Kenyabound » Tue Apr 03, 2007 11:18 am

Hi all - I'm a first time traveller with GAP and I'm heading to Africa for the Masai Mara experience in Sept. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good pack to take (capacity, soft vs hard etc). Thanks!!!

I used a 45 L pack and my husband used 80 L (i am pretty sure). We travelled in Africa for a month. We both had our sleeping bags in the packs. Mine was big enough for me but, my clothes and shoes take up a lot less space then my husbands. Just try not to bring to much stuff. Bring a little laundry soap and you can wash things out along the way or sometimes have the chance to get laundry done. I brought the bare minimum to save room for stuff I bought along the way. I guess it just depends if you are an overpacker or not. If you are unsure I would go for a slightly larger pack to be on the safe side.
