inexperienced 18 year old single traveller!

Postby helengrace » Thu Mar 31, 2011 2:41 pm

I'm booking a project in chiang mai in the north of thailand in an elephant sanctuary. I've never been to Thailand before, I've never travelled alone and I am quite honestly scared out my mind! I'm spending 2 weeks at the park then have 2 and a half weeks free for travel. I had hoped to travel south to koh samui and various other islands..
Any tips you could give me would be very much appreciated!

Hi helengrace. Welcome!

You are going to have a FANTASTIC time in Thailand. Check out the Asia Destination for lots of tips from people who have gone. It will definitely ease your mind about the trip.

Buen viaje!

Hi Helen,

I hope you got my reply to your private message.

When will you be taking your trip? I am arriving a night early for my trip (just in case of flight delays) and I will be in Bangkok by myself for the day. I will be staying in the GAP recommended hotel in Bangkok, and figured that there would always be someone to stick around with when I get there.

If our dates match up, I am happy to plan to meet you in Bangkok? Or if not, at least staying in places where GAP stays will mean that you are surrounded by other (more than likely) single travellers.

Don't be nervous, gather all the literature together you can and plan yourself a route - yes you are going by yourself, but the beauty of it is that you can go exactly where you want to!

:D
