Hello Jan and Melanie. Welcome to the Watering Hole.
Unfortunately, I haven't been to Turkey, but there are lots of people here at the WH who have. If you have specific questions, post them in the destination forum where they will get more exposure. If you use the search function there you can find some good tips for traveling in.
Have fun with your preparations. Don't forget to give a trip report when you return.
